Dick Ross Leaves Library Dick Ross, Assistant University Librarian for Collection Management, resigned at the end of August to become the library director at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. Dr. Ross, who joined the Georgetown University Library staff in July 1992, was instrumental in creating the Library Liaison Program; formalizing the Library's collection development policy; and building the digital library. Under his leadership, the Liaison Program assigned a librarian to each department and program to ensure the acquisition of materials for faculty and student research and learning. In directing the creation of collection development policy, Dick analyzed collection strengths and identified those subjects needing additional attention. He reallocated funds to purchase new electronic indexes and databases, e-journals, and e-books (see "E-Books Arrive with NetLibrary" in this issue), providing the foundation for digital research at Georgetown. Dick's resolve to ensure that faculty and students have the research material necessary for their scholarship will be appreciated for many years to come. Faculty with collection development concerns should continue to work with their library liaisons. A list of liaisons can be found at <http://www.library.georgetown.edu/dept/collect/collib.htm>. |
