Improved Access to Databases Off-Campus

Off-campus access to library research databases has been simplified through the installation of a proxy server. With the elimination of the technical limitations of the old authentication system, you now need to authenticate yourself only once during each search session, regardless of how many databases you use. For most databases, Netscape and Internet Explorer now work equally well. (A few databases function best in Internet Explorer, but far fewer than before.)

Updated Library Indexes and Databases Web pages provide instructions on setting up your browser for the proxy server. You will find them at <http://www.library.georgetown.edu/indexes/instructions/offcampus/>. If you have any questions or encounter any problems, please call the Reference desk at (202) 687-7452 or send e-mail at <http://www.library.georgetown.edu/forms/ask-ref/>.
