Library Research Guides Now
on the Web

Whether you are an explorer in the Himalayas or a researcher on the frontiers of psychology, an experienced guide that helps set your course is indispensable. Printed library subject guides have done the duty of directing Georgetown researchers to the best sources over the years. A new feature of the Library’s website <http://www.library.georgetown.edu> is the addition of online library guides.

The Library’s new Web-based guides to research bring together the best of the print and electronic worlds by combining the most useful library print resources with both free and subscription-based Web resources. Several of the nearly 50 guides now available on the Library’s homepage include African Area Studies, American Corporations, Art History, Asian Area Studies, Biology, Book Reviews, Chemistry, English Literature, Film, Industries, Latin American Area Studies, Linguistics, Marketing, Philosophy, Physics, Russian and East European Area Studies, United States History, and Women’s Studies. You might consider linking to relevant guides from your course Web pages.

Find the research guides by beginning with the Library website. Click on Research Tools and Resources and then on “Guides to Research by Subject,” or go directly to the Guides page. These new Web guides are formatted for easy printing and are also available for handouts in classes. To pick up copies of the humanities and social sciences guides, go to Lauinger Library. For science guides, visit the Blommer Science Library. If you would like multiple copies, please let the Reference Desk (687-7452) know ahead of time how many you would like.

Comments or suggestions are welcome. Contact Sandy Hussey, Library Research Instruction Coordinator, 687-8689, or husseys@gunet.georgetown.edu.
