Food for Fines

The Food for Fines exchange program, in which the library waives $1.00 in library fines (up to a maximum of $20) for each canned good or non-perishable food item brought to the library, will be conducted again this year from Monday, April 10, to Sunday, April 23, 2000. Food for Fines has successfully gathered tens of thousands of food items since the library first conducted the program in 1995. The food will be donated to Bread for the City in Washington, D.C., which primarily provides assistance to the elderly, the disabled, and families with children.
