SPACE FOR A GROWING COLLECTION
In the summer of 1997, major changes were made to the second floor of Lauinger Library by rearranging and adding shelving for the periodicals. We removed the periodical display shelves, the reading area was moved to the center of the floor, and new shelves were installed. The new, more efficient arrangement permitted the installation of 3,900 shelves, about evenly split between current and bound periodicals. In addition to the new shelves, the old carpet was removed, a section of the floor was tiled, and new carpet was installed. What remains to be done? Some bound journals need to be relabeled so the title on the spine matches the title in GEORGE. This process was begun during the summer and should be completed by the end of the year. Shifting the bound periodical collection should begin in January. If you have any questions or can't find what you are looking for please ask at the Reference Desk on the third floor. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience, but expect that in the future it will be easier to use journals.
